In the fall the largest of the Sailfish are the most abundant, but can also be found throughout the year. With its expert leaps, the beautiful Sailfish is a fun catch for sport fishermen. This type of fish is easier to reel because they get tired easily. Kite fishing from boats, or trolling with live bait or lures are both ways to conquer these fish.
During summer, Wahoo are common in Mexico’s oceans. Wahoo can be found far out in the ocean or closer in among the reefs. This fish hunts puffers, squid, tuna, and small mackerel.
Another type of fish to catch in Mexico is Snook. Snook can also be found all over Central America. Being cold-blooded animals as most fish are, they are sensitive to temperature. The deeper more open waters are home to the bigger Snook.
Tarpon can be found year round, but the largest Tarpon are more abundant in June and July. One out of five Tarpons are actually reeled in on average. Tarpon fishing has been said to be one of the most enjoyable experiences for fishing in shallow water due to exciting display the fish gives when shaking the hook.
