It is very easy to rent a car in Copenhagen. All the major car rental agencies are represented in both the airport and in the center of Copenhagen. In Copenhagen you can rent cars from: Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. So whoever you prefer (or have special deals with), you can find in Copenhagen.
All the car rental agencies have offices in Copenhagen Airport. In the international part of the airport they are located in the corridor between Terminal 2 and 3. When you are leaving the baggage claim and the customs check, you just have to turn left and walk about 50 meters. Then you will see the signs.
Avis, Europcar and Hertz are also represented in Terminal 1, which is the domestic part of the airport. If you want to rent a car from Budget or Sixt, you can just catch the airport bus to Terminal 3. It is free and it only takes a few minutes.
In Copenhagen all of the agencies are located in the city centre; close to the Main Station, the Town Hall Square, the Tivoli Garden and many of the hotels.
It is not cheap to rent a car in Copenhagen; especially if you are used to rent car in the United States. But it is actually possible to rent a cheap car in Copenhagen.
The best way to get a cheaper car is to rent the car in the weekend. Many of the agencies have special weekend offers. Long term rental is another way to rent a cheaper car. You can often rent a car for a whole weekend for the same price as 4 or 5 days. Normally the price will also be lower, if you prepay the car instead of just renting it at arrival.
The cars in Denmark are also smaller than in many other countries (especially compared to the United States). But the distances in Denmark are short, so unless you are bringing a lot of luggage (or a big family), you do not need a large car.
But of course it is possible to rent the big cars in Copenhagen. All the major European luxury car companies can be found at the car rental agencies in Copenhagen; including Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. It is also possible to rent both cabriolets (great in the summer) and BMW Mini Coopers (great for easy parking).
