Gas Street Basin is the central hub of the city’s intricate network of canals. The city has about 32 miles of canal with between 8 canals which were constructed during the eighteenth century and continued being used by local companies nearly until the end of the 20th century. Today the site has been renovated and regenerated and is now a pretty decent visitor attraction.
