The Bane Of Society: Reckless Driving

Reckless driving, whatever the actual reasons behind it, is the bane of our country today. Thousands of innocent people die on our roads, thanks to some idiot who wants to put up a show for the sake of his girlfriend. There are many more reasons too, and well talk about a few of them here.

Reckless driving is defined as a serious moving traffic violation and is the next step up from careless driving. It carries far more penalties and convictions and the more serious reckless driving offences carry several penalties with them. Thousands have people have lost their licence because some small burst of insanity when they were young and can now never drive a motor vehicle.

There are different types of punishment are applied for reckless driving depending on what state you are in, however they are all quite serious.

The most common reasons for reckless driving are:

Alcohol ” As expected the top reason for reckless driving happens to be being under the influence of alcohol while driving and the fines for this offense are much more severe ” as there are two problems here ” of reckless driving, and of driving under the influence of alcohol. The false high alcohol gives causes a burst of adrenaline and that shows off on the road!

Peer Pressure ” When people (particularly young people) drive with a group of friends, it is common for the friends to goad the driver into overtaking a particular vehicle or generally just to drive faster, which results in reckless driving. To be charged with reckless driving, you dont actually have to cause a crash, you just have to be seen, by human eyes or by video camera, driving recklessly.

Drugs ” No real need to explain this one is there?

Road Rage ” This is a relatively new cause for reckless driving, the most common causes are people getting angry because of continuous congestion and people seeming to drive badly, or it could just be bad manners!

It is not an extensive list of reasons but you get the general gist. Whatever reasoning behind it reckless driving is simply not acceptable and it is up to us as a community to put a stop to it.
