Vacations In An Island II

Vacations in an Island II

Gran Canaria

In the center of the canarian archipelago is located the big island, the Gran Canaria. It can be said that it is like a mini continent due to the variety of landscapes that present its map: in the north, an accidented coast, in the center steep peaks and rocky formations, and in the south, beaches of gilt sand. But what most attract tourist to the island is, without doubt, its beaches: almost 60 km in a coast of 236 km. Some of these beaches are virgins, like El Charco de las Palomas and Las Salinas, in Arucas; Guy-Guy Grande, in San Nicolas Village, or Punta Arena, in Artenara. The most popular beaches are, without doubt, Maspalomas and El Ingles, in San Bartolome de Tirajana. In the capital, Las Palmas, there are some interesting monuments like the Museum House of Colon, The Cathedral of Saint Anne or the Canarian Museum. The landscape of the Caldera de Bandama shows the volcaninc origen of the island and the ravine of Guayadeque.

El Ingles, San Agustin, Maspalomas, Meloneras, Puerto Rico, Amadores, and Mogan beaches, deserts in the past, suffered an incredible transformation in the last years, turning what it was a desert before into a paradise dedicated to the vacational tourism.

Maldivas

Approaching to the Maldivas from air is an unforgetable spectacle; 1,190 islands divided in 26 atolls – coral formations that from a ring that enclose a lake -, in the middle of the deep blue. It means that 99% of the Maldivas Republic is sea, just 200 islands are inhabited, in the rest there are near 87 touristic centers absolutely respectful with the enviroment. In fact, since 1997, the plan “Clean Maldivas” promote the effective management of the residues, including the ones from tourism, to keep intact an enviroment that should look like a paradise. Some of the uninhabited atolls and islands are used to dry fish. Apart from swimming in the calm water, practicing diving (a subaqueous camara is indispensable) or taking a walk along the beaches during the sunset, you can visit the capital, Male, surounded by dikes. Probably, it is the smallest capital of a nation around the world because it has just 75,000 habitants, a third part of the population of the country.

Bora Bora

In general all the archipelagos that form the French Polynesia are little paradises, but there is a place that personify the essence of the romanticism, even in its name, that is the Bora Bora island belonging to the society islands. Meaybe, because its central lake and beaches with coconuts have been stage of the filming of mityc movies, and landscapes like the Otemanu Mount, with its sunset behind, ,the island is well known. The island, used for the americans in the Second World War as a point of scale, is, in fact, an atoll surrounded by corals with colorful fish, sharks and rays.

To know all the island, the best way is to go through the inner coast, in the lagoon, in a canoe. An unforgetable experience is a bath in the precious Coral Garden. With Tahiti and Mo’orea, Bora Bora is the center of the tourism in the Polynesia.
